Jellyfish are communists.
They are groups of cells that agree to work together. Each watery little cell says to another, “I’ll be part of the dome, that jelly dome,” and some say, “I’ll be a stinger cell,” and they agree to work together, in symbiosis.
A jellyfish has no heart, no blood, no lungs, no muscles, skin, stomach. Unlike any other animal, a jellyfish consists of one type of cell only, a coelenterate cell. No neuron cells, no blood cells.
They therefore exist as little cooperatives of these coelenterate cells. Each jellyfish is a collection of cell membranes surrounding specks of water, a million times over. Just water and cell membranes and electrical impulses between the drops of water. Each cell agreeing to work together, they form larger creatures big enough to sting and absorb small fish.
When someone says communism doesn’t work, mention jellyfish.
